Do we have JOY?

My morning devotion took me into the book of Proverbs, chapter 12. Among the many nuggets of wisdom, these two verses stuck out to me. "Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy." (v. 20) and "Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up." (v. 25)

I don't know about you, but I am willing to bet that I am not the only one who has had to deal with anxiety, and at times anger, this year. The country seems to be the most divided that I have ever seen, and it has filtered down into our local communities, government, churches, and families. I have found this weighing heavy on my heart at times. Yet, this reading this morning was very encouraging, as I am reminded that God does want us to have joy in our lives. Certainly the world can be a trying place to live as a Christian, yet God tells us how we can help ourselves remain joyful no matter what. I is quite simple really, promote peace with a kind word and joy will follow. It is easy in today's world to get bogged down in the weight of all that is happening. Remember that in all this, Christ Himself sacrificed all to protect and save you. He hasn't forgotten you. Let us help one another by sharing a kind word today.
